Industrial Hygiene

The primary purpose of Industrial Hygiene is to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control health hazards in the workplace environment. These health hazards include chemical (a variety of specific chemical agents), physical (noise, vibration, radiation, and thermal stresses), biological (mold, bacteria, and specific biological compounds), and workplace design issues (ergonomic stresses and ventilation evaluations).

John A. Jurgiel & Associates has conducted industrial hygiene surveys, investigations, and other consulting services for a wide variety of environments and industries including: chemical and petroleum; paper and pulp products; steel mills, foundries, and metalworking facilities; automobile assembly plants; light manufacturing and general assembly; furniture and woodworking; construction; mining; transportation; food and beverage; laboratory; and educational facilities.

At John A. Jurgiel & Associates, industrial hygiene services are conducted by Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs) or are conducted under the direction of one of our CIHs. John A. Jurgiel & Associates maintains an ample supply of equipment and sampling media for routine Industrial Hygiene activities, and can access other specialty equipment on an as-needed basis. Industrial Hygiene surveys, performed by John A. Jurgiel & Associates, include baseline surveys to assess potential employee exposures to new chemicals or processes, routine surveys to evaluate the current exposure potentials, regulatory surveys conducted with governmental agencies or to evaluate the regulatory impact of potential employee exposures, and other surveys conducted in response to a specific need or concern.
